Bacteria Detection

Eearly detection of bacteria in cell cultures represents the only reasonable solution and control measure against a frequent problem for life sciences laboratories: bacteria contaminations in cell cultures.

Up to 5 % of all cell cultures are contaminated by bacteria but lack visual signs of bacterial contamination, such as turbidity, sudden medium coulor change (phenol red), or microscopic particles. Besides, bacteria can show resistance or lack of sensitivity to standard antibiotics (e.g. penicillin/streptomycin) and directly impact the cell metabolism, growth, and differentiation.

Minerva Biolabs offers rapid, sensitive, and robust PCR- and qPCR-based Bacteria Detection Kits for detection a multitude of bacteria species, many of them usually found as contaminants in cell cultures for example:

• Actinomyces
• Bacillus
• Enterococcus
• Escherichia
• Fusobacterium
• Klebsiella
• Lactobacillus
• Micrococcus
• Mycobacterium
• Pseudomonas
• Porphyromonas
• Prevotella
• Salmonella
• Serratia
• Legionella
• Staphylococcus
• Streptococcus
• Peptostreptococcus

The Onar® Bacteria Detection Kit is the ideal solution for screening cell cultures and cell culture-derived biological substances such as virus suspensions by conventional PCR. For qPCR-based detection of bacteria in cell cultures and supernatants or in advanced therapeutic medicinal products (ATMPs, e.g. autologous transplants), we manufacture Microsart® RESEARCH Bacteria and Microsart® ATMP Bacteria that are available for purchase from our exclusive distributor Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH.

Detect bacterial contamination directly in cell cultures, cell culture derived biologicals and cell culture media with our exclusively designed PCR kits.
